If:
- my legs were longer
- my bust was smaller
- my hands were graceful
- my waist was thinner
- my hips were flatter
- my voice was warm
Why does the copula in each line alternate between the indicative and the subjunctive mood? Grammatically, they should all read ‘were’. So what’s God playing at?
